Many people are scared of grace. Why? Because they’re scared of the freedom that comes with it. In their mind, they think that with that freedom sin will abound. But, I tell you, they think wrong!
Grace is actually the incredible power to live with the same righteousness that Jesus lived with. It is no longer I who live, but Christ in me! (Galatians 2:20) So, His righteousness runs throughout my body and is just waiting to manifest itself. (Romans 3:22)
That should get you excited…
Think about it. On that cross 2000 years ago, Jesus died as you. The life you lived in bondage to sin is dead. It died 2000 years ago. The life that you live now, you live as Jesus. Christ is living His life through you. It’s no longer you who live, but Christ in you.
That, my fellow people of royalty, is the most incredible news you could possibly ask for.
This is what freedom is. Just let Jesus have His way in you and you’ll realize that you’ll never have to sin again. (Romans 6:11) And you won’t have to live by any law because the love of God has filled you and He’s written His law on your heart. (Hebrews 10:16) And then, you start living by the very righteousness that Jesus carried.
Stop making God’s good Gospel of grace into law! Instead live by the Spirit; by that life of Christ in you. Through that, you’ll completely satisfy the law without even looking at it.
The Grace Gospel is the power for you to live like Jesus Himself on this earth.
How a revelation of grace changed my life…
Last September, when I first started GCSSM (Global School Of Supernatural Ministry) Bill Vanderbush shared with us as a class and he used me for an illustration that I’ll never forget and that changed my life forever.
What was it?
He looked at me and said “Jesus, you look quite dapper in that Justen suit today.” Those words hit me with the freedom and love that Jesus intended for us as believers.
In that moment, it sunk in. I finally realized that I don’t have to do anything to get closer to God. Instead, I get to live by the pure sweet life of Jesus in me. I was overcome by the love and grace of God. He trusted me to represent His Son’s body well for Him. In fact, He trusted me more then I trusted myself.
How could I make light this call of God on my life to be like Jesus?
Equipped with the revelation of Christ in me, the hope of glory, (Colossians 1:27) I couldn’t be the same me. Because that same me, that struggled with pornography and rejection, died 2000 years ago on the cross of Christ. It is no longer that me that lives, but the life of Christ in me and through me.
Woah. That, my friends, is what it means to be a son of royalty.
I get to live with the fullness of JOY, PEACE, and RIGHTEOUSNESS every day of my life because Jesus loves me.
We all know the song that we sang as children. “Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. I am weak but He is strong.”
Even though I sang it, I never knew how much Jesus really loved me. I didn’t know that He actually CHOSE me to live as Him on this earth. (1 Peter 2:9) I didn’t understand that my old selfish self was crucified with Him 2000 years ago and that it really was for freedom that Christ set me free. (Galatians 5:1)
However, I do know it now. I’ve never been freer in my life.
And it is stinking awesome!
Jesus loves us so much that He actually trusts us to live as Him on this earth. To do the same thing He did; go around doing good and healing ALL that are oppressed by the devil. (Acts 10:38)
Yup, we are continuing His life. The fullness of Jesus is living in you. If that doesn’t give you a different perspective on life, then I don’t know what will. Because, now, you get to see every moment through the eyes of Jesus. Every action that you take can be Jesus in you – unless, of course – you decide not to take the gift of grace for yourself and instead live by your old self that is dead.
Think about it this way. In his book ‘Overwhelmed by the Spirit’, James Maloney talks about an experience he had when God translated him in the middle of the night and took him to a country somewhere in the Middle East. There, James ministered with Jesus among all the sick in that village. James describes it that as he would lay hands on people Jesus would be phasing in and out of him as if they were one. And, on top of that, everyone was getting healed.
I’m ONE With JESUS!
One of the most important messages of the NT is that we are made one with Jesus. (1 Corinthians 6:17) That Jesus is actually fully living in you, as you.
So, the way I see it, you have two choices. You can either keep living and letting circumstances dictate how you live. Therefore living through your selfish self, which died 2000 years ago. Or you can live as a new creation with the actual life of Jesus oozing out of you wherever you go.
By living through your old dead self, you’ll never have to be scared of the Gospel of Grace since you won’t be living in it at all and you’ll get to live by the law to try and keep yourself righteous and holy.
By living through Christ in you, you’ll be dead center in the Gospel of Grace and you’ll be so free you won’t really know what to do with yourself except to live completely righteous and holy because Jesus is living in you. The awesome thing is that you’ll be able to forget about the law and live by the Spirit now. (Romans 8:2)
You are royalty and you get to live as Jesus everywhere you step.
Let the revelation of that message of grace overtake you and set you on fire so that the world can watch you burn. So, that they can see what it looks like for someone to be possessed by the Spirit of God.
If you struggle with anything, you have 2 choices. You can focus on the problem and never get rid of it. Or you can believe that Jesus actually paid it all so that you can live by HIS righteousness and therefore focus on HIM and see your problem completely disappear.
What you focus on, you empower. I choose to focus on Jesus.
